Queen up a tree

It's a Bank Holiday Weekend so we took a turn out to the annual Bisterne Scarecrow Festival. The village had been busy as usual creating  characters not so much designed to scare the birds as comment on life in general. There were, as always, references to popular culture past and present - Hansel and Gretel, Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass, Fred Flinstone, Barney Rubble with prehistoric pet Dino and sundry others.

Many though had chosen the occasion to comment on the appallingly wet summer that we have endured while the local Cub Scouts decided to use the Festival to commemorate the Olympics. Their entry included gold winning  heptathelete Jessica Ennis, Boris Johnson in training for Rio and parachuting Bond girl Lizzie Windsor aka HMH The Queen, dangling from a nearby tree. Driving back across the Avon Causeway it was clear to see just how wet the weather has been.
